Special Police Officer -- part-time

The Richmond Metropolitan Authority, the organization that operates Richmond toll facilities, parking decks, main street station and the Diamond baseball stadium, seeks a part-time Special Police Officer.  Duties include performing protective service work (including all related aspects of law enforcement), traffic law enforcement, and motorist assistance.

Requirements:  High School graduate or GED equivalent.  Must have successfully completed a Police Academy program accepted in the Commonwealth of Virginia and be certified as a law enforcement officer in VA. (or previously certified as a law enforcement officer)  Must possess a valid VA driver’s license and satisfactory driving record, and current firearms certification.  Must be accessible by phone; able to work on a call-in basis; available to work approximately 40 hours in a two week pay cycle with daytime availability, Monday – Friday, and occasional weekend shifts.  Ability to establish and maintain excellent customer relations with RMA’s patrons and working relationships with other law enforcement agencies in Richmond.  Ideal candidate will have at least 5 years police experience involving traffic law enforcement, police vehicle operation, and motorist assistance.  As a condition of employment, selected candidate must successfully complete drug screening, criminal history background check, driving record check, psychological evaluation, and be approved by the Richmond Circuit Court as an armed conservator of the peace.  Required training will be provided by the RMA.

Benefits and compensation: Hiring range is $ 17.55 – 20.76 per hour. Uniforms and firearm provided.
